Sweetie
We have a dog, My Tween and The Little Woman and I. Her name is Sweetie. She is a black American Cocker Spaniel, about three years old. She is THE MOST ADORABLE dog, sweet as pie (hence the name) and seriously has all of our hearts without a doubt. She is our girl.
I’m sad avid reader, because today we had to take Sweetie in to the vet because she was having trouble walking. A lot of trouble. And after x-rays, we find out that she has degenerative disc disease. Four fractures along her spinal cord.
Our hearts are broken. There isn’t much to be done, and what could be tried (surgery) is 1. super expensive, and 2. not even advisable, given the amount of damage. Sigh.
I have not made it home yet to sit down and talk to the girls about what we will have to do. I start crying just thinking about it. How am I going to break this to them? I know this is part of life, but my girls, especially My Tween are so in love with Sweetie, so totally attached, that this loss will be very hard to bear.
Say prayers, think good thoughts for us. We will need them.
